These six used MPVs are worth buying!

MPVs are not only comfortable in their second rows, but they can comfortably accommodate seven passengers and maintain ample trunk space, making them popular with families and businesses. However, MPVs can be quite expensive, typically costing between 200,000 and 300,000 yuan, making them quite expensive. If you desperately need a 6- or 7-seater MPV but find new models lacking in value, take a look at these 7 used MPVs; there's sure to be one that meets your needs!

1. Buick GL8

When the second-generation GL8 was launched, Buick didn't immediately discontinue the older model. Instead, it marketed both the old and new models side by side, with the older model being called the Classic Edition and the newer model the Luxury Business Edition. We recommend the second-generation GL8 Luxury Business Edition. Its chassis and suspension remain virtually unchanged from the first-generation model. Its main upgrades include two new powertrains, the 2.4L and 3.0L V6, a more comfortable second-row cabin, and more features.

In the used market today, the low-end 2.4L GL8 is available for under 40,000 yuan, while the high-end 3.0L model can be had for just over 40,000 yuan. Models in better condition can be had for just over 50,000 yuan. Furthermore, the GL8 has a very high ownership rate in China, making maintenance and servicing a breeze. Therefore, if you buy a used second-generation GL8 MPV, it will be practically ready for 2025.

2. Mazda 8

If you prioritize a vehicle's driving experience, the Mazda 8, with its youthful and more pleasant handling, is the perfect choice.

In terms of practicality, despite its slightly smaller size, the Mazda 8 boasts a seat design known as the "unrivaled second row." Not only are the second-row seats extremely comfortable, they also slide forward, backward, and sideways, making entry and exit of the third row easy. It's worth noting that the Mazda 8's second-row seats fold down to create a double bed, allowing for comfortable rest in the car, making it ideal for family use.

3. Nissan NV200

Many MPV owners may occasionally use it for cargo, making the Nissan NV200's spacious interior, ample trunk volume, and reliable quality very appealing.

To accommodate both passenger and cargo needs, the NV200 utilizes a rear leaf spring integral axle suspension, a relatively rare feature in its class. While this sacrifices some chassis comfort, the cabin is surprisingly spacious and can handle heavy loads with ease.

For added space, the NV200's second-row seats can fold forward with their backrests and seat cushions, while the third-row seats can be folded sideways to create a large, flat trunk. As for power, the NV200 is equipped with the same 1.6L naturally aspirated engine as the Sylphy. Models prior to the 2013 model year offered 113 horsepower and a 5-speed manual transmission. This was upgraded to 124 horsepower after the 2014 model year, and a CVT transmission is also available.

4. Volkswagen Sharan

If your MPV is primarily for family use and you value driving and a premium feel, the imported second-generation Volkswagen Sharan is a better choice. The 2.0T Sharan was the only MPV at the time to achieve a 0-100 km/h acceleration of under 8 seconds, and its European chassis tuning made it ideal for highway driving.

The Sharan's functional design rivals that of traditional MPVs. Its user-friendly features, including sliding doors, a second-row small table, a 2+3+2 seating layout, and a flat trunk floor with the seats folded down, make it ideal for family use.

In terms of used prices, 2012-2013 models equipped with the second-generation EA888 1.8T or 2.0T engines currently command a typical price of 40,000 to 50,000 yuan in the used market, and these are typically in good condition.

5. Ford Maxx

The Maxx has two generations. The first-generation model, which we recommend, was released in 2006. It's built on Ford's EUCD platform, the same platform used by the third-generation Mondeo and the first-generation Volvo XC60.

In 2007, Changan Ford introduced the Maxx to domestic production. All new models are equipped with a Mazda-sourced 2.3L naturally aspirated engine and an Aisin 6-speed automatic transmission. While not particularly powerful, it boasts affordable accessories. Like the Sharan, the Maxx features a 2+3+2 seven-seat layout with a flat rear floor. However, it lacks sliding doors and a second-row tray table.

6. Honda Odyssey

The Odyssey's greatest strength is its sedan-like driving experience. The recommended fourth-generation Odyssey looks more like a large station wagon.

The Odyssey's design is unique. The front seatbacks fold flat by removing the headrests, transforming the second row into a double bed. Furthermore, its front center armrest folds down, allowing passengers to move between the front and rear rows via the center aisle. Furthermore, the top-of-the-line Odyssey features a rare power-adjustable third-row seatback, which folds down to create a completely flat floor, providing exceptional flexibility. This feature is still a selling point for some new MPVs.

Because the Odyssey has always maintained excellent quality and overall performance, used Odysseys aren't as cheap as other brands. For example, the 2009 model, the earliest to market, still commands over 30,000 yuan. Even the youngest 2014 model typically fetches over 50,000 yuan.

7. Toyota Verso

If you prioritize size flexibility and aren't particularly demanding on space in an MPV, you might also consider the Toyota Verso.

Regarding the seating layout, both the 5- and 7-seater Verso features three independent seats in the second row, along with a small table. The seats fold flat, creating a spacious trunk even when no passengers are in the car.

Although current new energy MPVs offer excellent performance and a user experience, their price tags, often in the hundreds of thousands of yuan, put them out of reach for the average consumer. The 7 used MPVs mentioned above, while somewhat outdated, offer comparable space, practicality, and convenience as everyday family vehicles. If you're looking to invest in an MPV, a used MPV priced around 50,000 yuan is a solid choice.
