China's used car exports are embracing new opportunities

At a critical juncture in the transformation of the global automotive industry, China's used car exports are experiencing new opportunities.

Currently, China's used car exports are experiencing a golden period of policy dividends and a booming market. A vehicle population exceeding 400 million, a mature supply chain, and a wide selection of cost-effective models provide a solid foundation for China's used car exports.

Data shows that by 2024, my country's used car exports will exceed 400,000 units, with exports to over 160 countries and regions, becoming an emerging force in driving auto consumption and promoting industrial upgrading. At the same time, China's used car exports urgently need to establish a coordinated development framework with government guidance, enterprise-led initiatives, and associations empowering them. A standardized and internationalized service system should be used to break down overseas market barriers and establish a more competitive global used car distribution network.

China is accelerating the global automotive trade through its dual output of "technology and production capacity," and this trend is irreversible. With its triple crown in production, sales, and exports, and a global export volume of 6.4 million vehicles, China is reshaping trade flows and laying the foundation for a robust market structure. On this basis, Chinese automakers are deepening their presence in the global market with differentiated strategies. In the Middle East, they are prioritizing the reliability of fuel vehicles; in Central Europe, they are focusing on the adaptation of electric vehicle infrastructure; and in Latin America, they are strengthening their cost-effectiveness. This three-pronged strategy is continuously expanding the penetration and influence of Chinese automakers in the global market, creating new opportunities for the used car market.

As one of the core outcomes of the 2025 China Used Car Export Ecosystem Conference, the Used Car Institutional Vehicle Source Export Working Group, jointly led by the China Automobile Dealers Association and CAR Inc., has officially launched, marking the official entry of my country's used car exports into a new stage of development characterized by "ecologicalization, standardization, and branding."
